Weak To Much Lower
San Angelo slaughter lambs were weak to $10 lower this week.
Hamilton lambs were called sharply lower to $25 lower depending on
kind. Fredericksburg had no accurate price comparison, though all
classes of slaughter sheep trended lower. Billings feeder lambs sold
mostly $5-10 higher on a light test. No report was available from
Goldthwaite.

Feedlots Asking $96-97
After Climbing To $95 Last Week
Plains cattle feeders were asking $96 to mostly $97 at presstime
against bids of $92. Last week’s market took a three-dollar jump to
mostly $95.

Decline In Most Recent Sales
Slaughter meat goat market reports were short this week, prices
definitely lower. San Angelo was $10 lower, Hamilton “sharply”
lower, and New Holland, Pennsylvania steady to $2 lower per head.
Fredericksburg called no trend, and Goldthwaite went unreported.

under 750 pounds $2-4 higher, slaughter cows and bulls firm to $2
higher. Receipts totaled 2382 head.
Angelo Packer Lambs Weak To $10 Lower
Slaughter lambs were weak to $10 lower, slaughter ewes weak to $5
lower, nannies weak to $5 lower, kid goats $10 lower. Sheep and goat
receipts totaled 6300 head.
Athens Feeder Steer Prices $3-5 Higher
Feeder steers were $3-5 higher, heifers $1-2 higher, slaughter cows
steady, slaughter bulls $2-3 lower. Receipts totaled 1853 head.
Billings Feeder Lambs Mostly $5-10
Higher
Feeder lambs sold mostly $5-10 higher on a light test compared to
the last sale a month ago, slaughter ewes mostly $3-6 lower,
instances $8-10 lower, slaughter bucks mostly $4-8 higher. Receipts
totaled 1471 head.
Boxed Beef Cutout Value Moves Lower
The national comprehensive boxed beef cutout value for last week
showed prices down 66 cents from the previous week at $149.23. A
year ago the cutout value was $135.96.
Buffalo Feeder Steer Trend $4-6 Higher
Feeder steers were $4-6 higher, heifers mostly steady to instances
$2 higher, slaughter cows and bulls $2 higher. Receipts totaled 1155
head.
Most Clifton Steers Sell Steady To Firm
Feeder steers and heifers were steady to firm except 500-600 pounds
$2-3 higher, slaughter cows and bulls steady on a limited test.
Receipts totaled 569 head.
Coleman Light Feeder Steers $2-4 Higher
Feeder steers under 500 pounds were $2-4 higher, over 500 pounds
$3-5 higher, heifers under 500 pounds $3-5 higher, over 500 pounds
steady to $2 lower, slaughter cows and bulls $1-2 higher,
replacement cows and cow-calf pairs steady to $50 higher. Receipts
totaled 2667 head.
Comanche Steer Trend Steady To $4 Higher
Feeder steers and heifers were steady to $4 higher, slaughter cows
and bulls steady. Receipts totaled 605 head.
Light Crockett Feeder Steers Mostly
Steady
Feeder steers under 500 pounds were mostly steady, over 500 pounds
$2-3 higher, heifers steady, slaughter cows $2 higher, slaughter
bulls steady. Receipts totaled 1306 head.
Fredericksburg Sells 3837 Sheep And
Goats
No accurate price comparison was available, though most slaughter
classes trended lower. Sheep and goat receipts totaled 3837 head.
Dalhart Feeder Cattle Sell Steady To
Strong
Feeder steers and heifers were steady to strong, instances 600-750
pounds $1-2 higher, slaughter cows firm, except boner cows $1
higher. Receipts totaled 2262 head.
Edinburg Auction Sells 528 Head Of
Cattle
No price comparison was available on cattle receipts of 528 head.
Heavy Graham Steers Steady To $1 Higher
Feeder steers under 500 pounds were $3-6 higher, over 500 pounds
steady to $1 higher, heifers under 500 pounds $4-8 higher, over 500
pounds $3-6 higher, slaughter cows and bulls steady to firm,
replacement cows and cow-calf pairs steady to firm. Receipts totaled
1923 head.
Hamilton Kid Goat Prices Sharply Lower
Kid goats were sharply lower Monday, nannies steady, wool lambs $25
lower on a light test, Barbado lambs sharply lower, Dorper lambs
sharply lower, ewes steady. Sheep and goat receipts totaled 4021
head.
Imported Meat Total 10% Below Last Year
Imported meat for the week ending January 30 totaled 24,240 metric
tons. This compares to 26,859 metric tons for the same period last
year and is a 10 percent decrease. The following figures represent
metric tons.
San Saba And Mason Stocker Steers Steady
Mason and San Saba stocker steers sold steady, stocker heifers $2
higher, feeder steers $1 lower, feeder heifers steady, packer cows
and bulls steady. Receipts totaled 1262 head for the two sales.
Light Lampasas Feeder Cattle $4-8 Higher
Feeder steers and heifers under 500 pounds were $4-8 higher, over
500 pounds steady to firm, instances $2-3 higher, slaughter cows
steady to firm, slaughter bulls $2 lower. Receipts totaled 629 head.
Mohair LDP Drops, Wool Is Unchanged
WASHINGTON — As of Wednesday the LDP for wool is unchanged at 29
cents. The LDP for mohair, however, dropped back to zero last week
and remains at zero this week as the posted price remains above the
target price of $4.20.
Lockhart Steers Steady, Heifers $1-2
Higher
Feeder steers were steady, heifers $1-2 higher, slaughter cows and
bulls steady. Receipts totaled 502 head.
Red Meat Production 2.5% Below A Year Ago
Total red meat production under federal inspection last week was
estimated at 915.8 million pounds, .4 percent lower than the
previous week and 2.5 percent lower than last year. Cumulative meat
production for the year to date was 3.9 percent lower than last
year.
Nation’s Feeder, Stocker Cattle
Prices Called Steady To Higher
Feeder and stocker cattle sold steady to $3 higher across the
country last week as buyers continued to raise the bar for feedlot
replacements as well as grazing type cattle.
Navasota Steers Sell Steady To $3 Higher
Feeder steers were steady to $3 higher, heifers steady, slaughter
cows steady to $1 lower, slaughter bulls $2 lower. Receipts totaled
1183 head.

Cattle
Feeder steers and heifers over 700 pounds were generally steady to
$3 higher in Superior Livestock Auction’s video sale, some weakness
noted on those approaching 850 pounds or more, with a limited test
on weights over 900 pounds; under 700 pounds were $3-6 higher, some
lightweight heifers $7-8 higher. Receipts totaled 28,000 head.
Three Rivers Cattle Receipts Total 1550
No price comparison was available on cattle receipts of 1550 head.
Tulia Feeder Cattle Prices Mostly Steady
Feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady, slaughter cows and
bulls steady to firm. Receipts totaled 3996 head.
Domestic Wool Moderate,
Aussie Market Higher
Domestic wool trading on a clean basis was moderate last week, with
184,200 pounds of confirmed sales and moderate demand. All prices
are reported on a weighted average.
