Plains Fed Cattle Trade Quiet At
Midweek, Packers Mum On Bids

Plains fed cattle trade was at a standstill through midweek, feedlots asking $117 or better and hearing nothing solid from the packers. Last week’s trade came early at $113.

Reported Lower To Stronger

Slaughter meat goat prices ranged from lower to stronger in most recent trading. San Angelo was weak to $5 lower, New Holland “sharply” lower, Fredericksburg and Hamilton steady, and Goldthwaite steady to stronger.

Most Lambs Sell
Steady To Higher

Lamb prices were uneven but mostly steady to higher this week, with San Angelo slaughter lambs under 70 pounds selling $5-10 lower, lambs over 70 pounds $2-5 lower. Goldthwaite lambs were $5-7 higher. Hamilton wool lambs sold steady, Dorper lambs steady to $5 higher, and Barbado lambs $10 higher. Fredericksburg lamb prices were all steady.

Cattle and calves on feed for slaughter July 1 in feedlots with a capacity of 1000 or more head totaled 11.7 million head, up three percent from the same period in 2011.

Feeder steers and heifers were $2-10 lower, slaughter cows and bulls $2-4 lower, bred cows and pairs $50 lower. Receipts totaled 820 head.

A lower undertone was noted on all cattle classes. Receipts totaled 480 head.

Calves and yearlings traded $4-10 lower across the country last week. The supply was moderate with light to moderate demand.

Mostly Lower By $3-7

Feeder steers were mostly $3-7 lower, instances $13 lower on 500-600 pounds, heifers $4-6 lower, instances $14 lower 400-500 pounds, slaughter cows and bulls $7-10 lower. Receipts totaled 1432 head.

Clifton Stocker Steer
Prices Decline $3-6

Stocker steers were $3-6 lower, stocker heifers $2-4 lower, feeder cattle $3-5 lower, packer cows $5 lower. Receipts totaled 700 head.

Goldthwaite Kid Goats
Sell Steady To Strong

Lambs were $5-7 higher, kid goats steady to strong. Receipts totaled 2331 head.

Wichita Falls Heavy
Calves $4-7 Lower

Lighter calves were steady to $5 lower, calves over 500 pounds $4-7 lower, yearlings $5-10 lower, packer cows $6-10 lower, bred cows and pairs $50-75 lower. Receipts totaled 1129 head.

Navasota Cattle Price
Trends Called Steady

Cattle prices were steady on receipts of 1164 head.
Steers: 150-300 pounds $150-305, 300-400 pounds $150-205, 400-500 pounds $125-170, 500-600 pounds $120-143, 600-700 pounds $115-134.

Fredericksburg Feeder
Cattle Prices Lower

Steers were $1-3 lower, heifers $2-5 lower, slaughter cows and bulls $3 lower. Receipts totaled 775 head.

San Saba And Mason
Calves Quoted Steady

Mason and San Saba calves and yearlings were steady, packer cows and bulls $5 lower, pairs and bred cows steady. Receipts totaled 1215 head for the two sales.

Lampasas Feeder Cattle
Prices Decline $8-10

Feeder cattle were $8-10 lower, slaughter cows $3-5 lower, slaughter bulls $6-9 lower. Receipts totaled 405 head.

Comanche Fully Steady
On Calves, Yearlings

Calves and yearlings were fully steady, packer cows and bulls lower. Receipts totaled 492 head.

Coleman About Steady
On Stockers, Feeders

Stocker and feeder cattle were about steady, packer cows and bulls $2-3 lower. Receipts totaled 1457 head.

Durant Steer, Heifer
Prices Quoted Steady

Steers, heifers and yearlings were steady, slaughter cows and bulls steady, bred cows and pairs steady. Receipts totaled 400 head.

Light Joplin Steer
Prices $4-7 Lower

Steers under 800 pounds were $4-7 lower, steers over 800 pounds and all weights of heifers steady to $3 lower. Receipts totaled 3680 head.

Most Cuero Calves
Steady To Lower

Most calves were steady to a little lower, cows weaker, bulls steady. Receipts totaled 906 head.

Feeder steers and bulls were fully $7-12 higher, slaughter cows uneven to $2 lower, bulls $4 lower. Receipts totaled 688 head.

Hamilton Lamb Market
Steady To Higher

Kid goats and nannies were steady Monday, wool lambs steady, Dorper lambs steady to $5 higher on feeders, Barbado lambs $10 higher, ewes $5 higher. Sheep and goat receipts totaled 2574 head.

Wool And Mohair LDP
Rates Remain At Zero

LDPs for ungraded wool and mohair remained at zero as the posted price for both commodities remains above the target price.

Light slaughter lambs under 70 pounds were $5-10 lower Tuesday, over 70 pounds $2-5 lower, slaughter ewes steady, nannies $5-8 lower, kid goats weak to $5 lower. Sheep and goat receipts totaled 4100 head.

Oklahoma City Weaned
Calves Quoted Steady

Feeder steers were steady to $3 lower, feeder heifers lightly tested and steady, steer and heifer calves lightly tested with un-weaned calves $2-3 lower, weaned calves steady. Receipts totaled 5137 head.

Light Eastland Feeder
Steers $2-5 Higher

Lightweight feeder steers were $2-5 higher, heavyweights steady, light heifers steady, heavyweights $3 lower, slaughter cows steady to $4 lower, bulls $3 lower, bred cows $125 higher, pairs steady. Receipts totaled 316 head.

Light Graham Steers,
Heifers $2-4 Higher

Steers and heifers under 500 pounds were $2-4 higher, over 500 pounds $2-3 higher, packer cows steady to $2 lower, bulls $2-5 lower, replacement cows and pairs steady to $75 lower. Receipts totaled 466 head.

Cattle receipts totaled 495 head.
Steers: under 300 pounds $160-225, 300-400 pounds $130-155, 400-500 pounds $120-149, 500-600 pounds $115-134, 600-700 pounds $110-129, 700-800 pounds $100-127.

Steady, Some Higher

Feeder cattle were steady with some $4-8 higher, bulls steady. Receipts totaled 510 head.

Yearlings $3-6 Higher

Calves and yearlings were $3-6 higher, packer cows and bulls $2-4 lower. Receipts totaled 671 head.
