Slaughter Meat Goat Prices
Mixed In Most Recent Trading
Slaughter meat goat prices were mixed in most recent trading. San
Angelo was weak to $10 lower, Hamilton steady, Fredericksburg $10
higher, and New Holland, Pennsylvania mostly $10-20 higher per head.
Goldthwaite called no trend.
Lamb Market Prices
Up And Down
San Angelo slaughter lambs were $10-20 lower this week, while
Fredericksburg lambs sold $10 higher. Hamilton wool lambs and
Barbado lambs were steady, Dorper lambs $5 lower.
Plains Fed Cattle Trade
Quiet;
Packers Keep Bids Under Wraps
Panhandle fed cattle trade showed no signs of life at midweek.
Feedlots were looking for $128 or better, and packers had yet to
show a card. Last week’s going rate was $126, off two bucks from the
week before.

most significant wins in recent memory. The court definitively ruled
in Day that landowners have an ownership interest in
groundwater in place, and that the water beneath the land cannot be

Article I, Section 17(a) of the Texas Constitution.

Buys Superior Auction
National Livestock Credit and a group of cattlemen from several
states have formed a limited partnership to acquire Superior
Livestock Auction Inc. The announcement was made last week through a
company press release.

Feeder cattle were $3-4 lower, slaughter cows and bulls steady.

Heifer Trend Off $4-6
Stocker and feeder cattle were $4-6 lower, packer cows steady,
stocker cows and pairs slow. Receipts totaled 2078 head.
Clifton Stocker Steer
Price Trend $4-6 Lower
Stocker steers were $4-6 lower, feeder steers $2-4 lower, stocker
heifers $3-5 lower, feeder heifers $2-3 lower, packer cows steady.
Receipts totaled 800 head.

Nannies All Steady
Wool lambs were steady on a light test Monday, Dorper lambs $5
lower, Barbado lambs steady, ewes $15 higher, kid goats and nannies
steady. Sheep and goat receipts totaled 3306 head.

In the PRCA all-around competition, Trevor Brazile, Decatur, Texas,
leads with $46,352 in season earnings to date. He is followed by
Landon McClaugherty, Tilden, Texas, with $39,271; JoJo LeMond,
Andrews, Texas, $29,058; Rhen Richard, Roosevelt, Utah, $28,011; and
Curtis Cassidy, Donalda, Alberta, Canada, $16,191.

Aussie Market Higher
Domestic wool trading on a clean basis was moderate last week, with
801,950 pounds of confirmed sales and moderate demand.

Steady To $1 Higher
Feeder steers were steady to $1 higher, heifers steady to $1 lower,
slaughter cows steady to $1 lower, slaughter bulls steady. Receipts
totaled 2421 head.
Tulia Feeder Cattle
Prices Decline $3-7
Feeder steers and heifers sold $3-7 lower, slaughter cows steady to
$2 higher, higher undertone on slaughter bulls. Receipts totaled
2767 head.
Red Meat Production
.9% Below A Year Ago
Total red meat production under federal inspection last week was
estimated at 929.4 million pounds, even with the previous week and
.9 percent lower than last year. Cumulative meat production for the
year to date was 1.1 percent lower than last year.
Boxed Beef Cutout
Prices Trend Higher
The national comprehensive boxed beef cutout report for last week
showed prices up $2.73 from the previous week at $196.16. A year ago
the cutout value was $188.15.

Feeder steers were mostly steady except 500-600 pound steers $1-2
higher, heifers under 700 pounds firm to 3 higher, instances $5
higher on value added and thin kinds, slaughter cows and bulls

Nation’s Yearling Feeder Cattle
Price Trend Steady To $3-6 Lower
Yearling feeder cattle opened last week steady to $3 lower across
the country but turned mostly $3-6 lower by week’s end.

Prices Off $10-20
Slaughter lambs were $10-20 lower Tuesday, slaughter ewes firm to $1
higher, nannies $5-10 lower, kid goats weak to $10 lower. Sheep and
goat receipts totaled 5100 head.
Belen Feeder Cattle
Called $4-8 Lower
Feeder steers and heifers were $4-8 lower, slaughter cows and bulls
steady to $1 lower, bred cows and pairs $400 lower, quality
considered. Receipts totaled 1404 head.
Imported Meat Total
37% Above Last Year
Imported meat for the week ending May 4 totaled 34,980 metric tons.
This compares to 22,172 metric tons for the same period last year
and is a 37 percent increase. The following figures represent metric
tons.

Feeder steers over 800 pounds were steady to $2 higher, under
800 pounds steady to $2 lower in a light test, feeder heifers steady
to $2 higher, steer and heifer calves $2 lower on limited offerings.

The final notice approving the assessment rate increase for the Lamb
Promotion, Research and Information Order was published in the May
14 issue of the Federal Register. The new rate will go into
effect on June 13.
