Cattle Exchange Price Levels
Near Asking Range In Panhandle

Panhandle fed cattle trade was characteristically quiet at midweek, packers offering $110 and feedlots asking $115-116. Last week’s going rate was up about $3 from the previous session at mostly $112.

Packer Lamb Markets
Firm To Higher

San Angelo slaughter lamb prices were firm to $5 higher this week, while feeder lambs sold steady. Hamilton wool lambs sold $10 higher, Dorper and Barbado lambs $15 higher. Fredericksburg wool lambs were $5 higher, Dorper lambs $10 higher. Goldthwaite was closed Friday for Thanksgiving.

Slaughter Meat Goats Steady
To Higher In Recent Trading

Slaughter meat goat prices were steady to higher in most recent trading. Hamilton and Fredericksburg were steady, San Angelo $15-20 higher, and New Holland, Pennsylvania mostly steady to $10 higher per head. Goldthwaite was closed Friday in observance of Thanksgiving.

The 2017 Texas A&M AgriLife Angora Goat Performance Test is set to begin with delivery of the bucks on December 7 to the Texas A&M AgriLife Research Station, located 28 miles south of Sonora on U.S. Highway 55, between Sonora and Rocksprings.

Wool lambs were $10 higher Monday, Dorper and Barbado lambs $15 higher, ewes $10 higher, kid goats and nannies steady. Sheep and goat receipts totaled 1077 head.

Calves $4-6 Higher

Lightweight calves were $4-6 higher, heavy calves and yearlings steady to $2 higher, packer cows and bulls steady to $2 higher. Receipts totaled 993 head.

Fredericksburg Lambs
Up, Kid Goats Steady

Wool lambs were $5 higher, Dorper lambs $10 higher, kid goats steady. Sheep and goat receipts totaled 2758 head.

Crockett Calls Feeder
Cattle $7-10 Higher

Feeder cattle were $7-10 higher, slaughter cows $4 higher, slaughter bulls firm. Receipts totaled 2834 head.

Light Eastland Steer
Prices $10-20 Higher

Lightweight feeder steers were $10-20 higher, heavy steers $10-16 higher, feeder heifers $6-8 higher, slaughter cows steady to $2 lower, slaughter bulls steady. Receipts totaled 1191 head.

Nation’s Yearling Feeder Cattle
$2-7 Higher In Shortened Week

Feeder cattle and calf markets were not fully tested across the country last week due to limited marketing during the Thanksgiving holiday period.

Steady To $3 Higher

Steers were mostly steady to $3 higher, heifers $6-10 higher. Receipts totaled 4080 head.

Oklahoma City Feeder
Cattle $1-4 Higher

Feeder steers and heifers were $1-4 higher, calves mostly steady. Receipts totaled 7946 head.

Boxed Beef Cutout
Prices Trend Higher

The national comprehensive boxed beef cutout report for last week showed prices up $2.69 from the previous week at $181.68. A year ago the cutout value was $205.25.

Quoted Mostly Steady

Calves sold mostly steady, slaughter cows and bulls steady. Receipts totaled 467 head.

New Holland Lambs
Mostly $5-20 Higher

Slaughter lambs sold mostly $5-20 higher, slaughter ewes mostly steady to $10 higher, slaughter bucks steady, slaughter kid goats and nannies mostly steady to $10 higher per head, slaughter bucks weighing under 150 pounds mostly steady to firm, heavier bucks sharply higher, slaughter wethers mostly steady to $20 higher per head. Sheep and goat receipts totaled 3015 head.

Domestic wool trading on a clean basis was quiet last week, with no confirmed trades.

Red Meat Production
9.3% Above A Year Ago

Total red meat production under federal inspection last week was estimated at 920.5 million pounds, 13.6 percent lower than the previous week and 9.3 percent higher than last year. Cumulative meat production for the year to date was 3.3 percent higher than last year.

Imported meat for the week ending November 19 totaled 35,312 metric tons. The following figures represent metric tons.

Up Over A Year Ago

Total red meat supplies in freezers were down three percent from the previous month but up one percent from last year. Total pounds of beef in freezers were up three percent from the previous month and up five percent from last year.

Feeder steers were $10-20 higher, feeder heifers $7-14 higher, slaughter cows $3-6 higher, slaughter bulls $3-9 higher. Receipts totaled 1777 head.

Steer calves under 600 pounds sold $8-12 higher with steers 400 pounds as much as $20 higher, steer calves over 600 pounds $5-10 higher, heifer calves $3-7 higher, spots $9 higher. Receipts totaled 2726 head.

Joplin Calves Quoted
Steady To $3 Higher

Steer and heifer calves were steady to $3 higher, yearlings steady to $2 higher. Receipts totaled 6713 head.

Steer calves weighing 400-500 pounds sold mostly $4-10 higher, 500-600 pounds fully steady to firm, steers 600-800 pounds $3-6 higher, instances $8 higher on 600-650 pounds, feeder heifers 400-600 pounds mostly $5-10 higher, instances $12-15 higher on 500-550 pounds, heifers 600-700 pounds $2-5 higher, slaughter cows steady to firm. Receipts totaled 2177 head.

Steers and heifers sold steady to $7 higher, slaughter cows steady, bulls $1 higher. Receipts totaled 1291 head.

Feeder steers weighing 400-600 pounds were $8-9 higher, over 600 pounds steady, heifers $2-8 higher with instances $11 higher on 500-600 pounds, slaughter cows $1 lower, bulls steady to strong. Receipts totaled 1049 head.

Light Sedalia Steer
Calves $5-10 Higher

Steer calves under 550 pounds sold $5-10 higher, heavier weight steers and all heifers steady to $5 higher. Receipts totaled 718 head.
