Enjoy Good Demand
Both fat and feeder lambs enjoyed good demand and
generally steady to higher prices across most of the
country this week. Slaughter ewes ranged from steady to
weak.
Fed Cattle In
Waiting Game As Packers Bid Lower Again
There were more fed cattle at the Fort Worth Stock
Show this week than in Plains trading channels. After
picking up more than 130,000 head in the Panhandle area
alone last week, packers reverted to their recent habit
of sitting out the live trade, calling in captives to
fill any gaps in their kill schedules.

The European Parliament is urging the European
Union to stand firm in a trade dispute with the United
States by maintaining a ban on imports of beef treated

Jump 41 Percent In 1995
While cattlemen struggled with the lowest prices
and weakest market in years, the nations largest
beef packer reported record earnings and a 41 percent
increase in profits last year.

Producers Video Auction offered 3453 head of
cattle here last week in their regular video sale.
Consignments were from Texas, Florida, Oklahoma and
Montana.

Cattle Auction Offerings Total 42,000 Head
Superior Livestock Auction offered 42,000 head of
cattle in special trading here in conjunction with the
National Cattlemens Association convention. Trade
was termed moderate and demand fair, prices softer.
Delivery terms were mostly current to May, a few for June
and July.

Mixed, Cattle Steady To Up
Newcrop feeder lambs were firm to $2 higher here
Tuesday, oldcrops weak to $2 lower, slaughter lambs
steady to $1 higher and slaughter ewes weak. One day
receipts totaled 10,527 head.

Saba Feeder Cattle Off
Stocker calves sold steady to $4 lower at Mason
and San Saba auctions last week, feeder steers $3-4
lower, heifers steady to strong, slaughter cows and bulls
steady to $3 higher, stock cows and pairs steady.

Herd Bulls Average $1238
Six aged Brangus herd bulls at the Big Elm herd
dispersal sale here averaged $1238 per head, seven three
year-old commercial bulls made $1007, 29 two year-old
commercial bulls averaged $1056, and 28 yearlings brought
$562.
