Lamb Trade Mixed Bag This Week
The lamb trade was a mixed affair this week, higher in some areas and steady in others.
Slaughter lambs were as much as $3-5 higher for the week in the Midwest but steady in Texas. Feeders held steady in most areas. Slaughter ewes likewise, remained about steady.

Effort To Break Fed Cattle Market Fails; Plains Get $64
Ain't it surprising what a good week can do?
After taking it on the chin for weeks, Plains cattle feeders bowed up last week and put $2 on the fat market.

Ty Jones Cattle Co., Canyon, bought in New Mexico for October delivery 1425 No. 1 Okie and crossbred steers to weigh 750 pounds at $81, also 600 similar steers to weigh 800 at $80, and 700 No. 1 Okie and crossbred heifers to weigh 725 at $77.

All represented sheep and goat classes were reported lower; feeder lambs were $2-3 lower in a limited test, slaughter ewes steady to $2 lower while bucks held steady.

Brownwood, San Saba, Mason Cattle Strong
Feeder steers and heifers were steady to strong in San Saba, Mason and Brownwood, some yearling steers $2-6 higher, slaughter cows steady, bulls $1-3 lower, stock cows steady to as much as $5 higher.
