Lamb Prices Show
Weaker Trend Again
Fat and feeder lamb prices were
lower again this week with declines mostly around the two
to four dollar mark.
Plains Fed
Cattle Gain $2 In Brisk Early-Week Trade
Persistence has paid off for Plains cattle feeders. Last
week they held firm in the face of $63-64 bids and
eventually ended up moving more than 112,000 head at a
steady $65.

Tyson Foods, the nation's largest poultry producer, said
last Thursday it was buying Hudson Foods for $642 million
in cash and stock.

Feeder lambs weighing under 70 pounds sold steady this
week, heavier weights weak to $2 lower, slaughter lambs
$5-6 lower, slaughter ewes uneven, mostly firm to $2
higher.

Feeder steers and heifers under 500 pounds sold $2-4
higher. Receipts totaled 869 head.

City Cattle Prices Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold $1-3 higher, slaughter
cows $2 higher, bulls steady, replacement heifers higher,
cow-calf pairs steady. Receipts totaled 1571 head.
