Meat Goat Meet Set
For October 30-31

SAN ANGELO — A meat goat conference is scheduled for October 30-31 here. The program will feature an evaluation of a set of live goats which will be killed and re-evaluated on the rail.

To begin the Thursday session, a panel of experts will conduct a live evaluation and discuss their results. After lunch, the focus will be on commercial feeding and include topics such as breed differences, facilities for feeding, health care of feeders, rations that work, and differences in goat genetics. Additionally, participants will hear about ongoing meat goat research.

Friday morning’s program begins with a discussion on meat standards and processing, and the program will conclude with the carcass evaluation.
