Vann-Roach Cattle Co., Fort Worth, bought in Northeast Texas for March 1998 delivery 3000 No. 1-1½ crossbred heifers to weigh 675 pounds at $4 back of the March futures board; in the Texas Panhandle for November delivery two loads of No. 1 English-exotic cross steers to weigh 800 at $76; in South Texas for November four loads of No. 1½ crossbred heifers to weigh 725 at $70.50; in Southeastern Oklahoma for current delivery three loads of No. 1 English-exotic cross steers weighing 750 at $75.

USDA reports 3060 head of feeder cattle selling direct off Oklahoma range, including: for early February delivery medium and large No. 1 steers to weigh 800 pounds at $74 and similar heifers to weigh 725-750 at $72.50-74; for current delivery similar steers weighing 450-455 pounds at $86-88, 600 pounds at $82, and 800-835 pounds at $73.50-75.25; similar heifers weighing 450-575 at $77-78.

Direct feeder cattle trade in the Northwest as confirmed by USDA totaled 2600 head. Medium and large No. 1 steers weighing 600 pounds brought $78-79 f.o.b. Washington, 800-825 pounds $72-73 f.o.b. Oregon and Washington; similar heifers weighing 550-575 pounds were $72-75 f.o.b. Washington, 725-750 pounds $69 f.o.b. Oregon, and 800-825 pounds $70 f.o.b. Washington.
