Lloyd Kinyon of Clovis this week bought 200 steer
calves, expected to weigh around 450 pounds, at Kenna,
New Mexico, at 25 cents a pound.

Dick Brummett, of Singer Brummett Cattle Company,
Amarillo, bought from Johnny Kemp of Tucumcari, 500 steer
yearlings weighing 700 pounds at $22.50.

Arthur Letts, Amarillo, bought 364 mixed calves and
short age yearlings weighing 475 in eastern New Mexico at
$21.50 and $23.50 for heifers and steers, respectively.

Jones Brothers of Junction last week bought 200 mixed
Brahman-Hereford crossbred calves from Morgan Brothers of
Andrews at 20 cents a pound straight across; the steers
averaged 490 pounds, and the heifers which went to
Mission Packing Company of San Antonio, 440 pounds.

Feeder lambs in West Texas this week are quoted at 14
to 15 cents a pound. Trading is slow not only because of
dull demand but also because lambs are about all gone.
40 YEARS AGO
Sheep and lamb trading reached a new low ebb for the
season this week. Good and choice fat lambs sold from $21
to $22 in light volume at Fort Worth and were quoted
$21-21.50 in San Angelo.

Walter Fogerson of Clovis, N.M., sold 62 mixed calves
weighing 431 pounds at $22 and $24 and delivered them
Oct. 20 to an Amarillo buyer.

Ben Keele of Tatum, N.M., bought 100 cows, 24 with
calves and the rest springers, three to five years old,
at $150 per cow from Lillard Dale of Lovington, delivered
Oct. 23.

Don Webb of Faith, S.D., sold 300 two year-old ewes to
Claud Olson, Ludlow, S.D., at $26 per head, delivered
Oct. 18. He also sold 300 head of three year-old ewes at
$24 per head to a North Dakota buyer.

Henry Maginot, San Angelo, bought 65,000 pounds of
12-month wool in the Dripping Springs area at $1.53 clean
basis (core test).

A thousand head of what must be the healthiest
yearling ewes in the United States are going to
Venezuela. The ewes were bought for a Venezuelan
principal by Dr. Hernan Casanova, former veterinary with
the government of that country, from the Hixson Ranch
Co., Ordway.

Ernest Woodward, San Angelo, bought 120,000 pounds of
yearling mohair from Sonora Wool & Mohair Co. at 90
cents.

Pete Buske, Friona, Texas, sold 70 steers weighing
1132 pounds out of Hereford feedlots at $29 with three
head out at $28 and delivered them to Wayne Yocum of
Hereford for shipment to Wilson & Co., Oklahoma City.

Stocker ewe lambs in Idaho have been selling rather
actively at mainly 20 to 22½ cents a pound.

Joe Gollenhorn of House, N.M., sold 55 mixed calves
weighing 418 and 445 at $27 and $29 to Edward Sumrall of

Farris Feedlot at Hart sold 110 mostly choice
1108-pound steers at $26.25 and delivered them to a South
Texas packer.

yearlings weighing about 700 pounds at $24 in the McLean
area.

F.L. Hommel of Clarendon sold a load of choice
1187-pound steers at $26.50 and delivered them to Armour
& Co., Fort Worth.

Uvalde Producers Wool & Mohair and Kinney County
Wool & Mohair Co., Brackettville, both managed by Al
Dishman of Uvalde, sold about 150,000 pounds of adult
mohair, most of it fall clip at 32 cents per pound but
with some spring hair at 35 cents.

Spurlock Cattle Co., Panhandle, sold 330 good 680-700
pound heifers at $25 to an out-of-state packer.

Allen Poling of Clayton, N.M., sold 900 Angus steer
yearlings weighing about 600 pounds at $24 to G.L. Willis

The Concho Hereford Assn. annual bull sale averaged a
record $1046 per head on 91 bulls. Top price was $2150,
paid by P.H. Coates, Big Lake, for the champion bull
consigned by Rocking Chair Ranch, Menard.

named bucking horse of the year for a record sixth season
by the Rodeo Cowboys Assn. He is owned by the Beutler
Bros. & Cervl stock contracting company, Sterling,
Colo.

Dumas buyer 249 No. 1 Okie steers weighing 561 pounds at
$49 and to a Spearman buyer 200 No. 1 Okie preconditioned
steer calves weighing about 370 at $220 per head, all
