Mexican Feeder Cattle
Imports Up 72 Percent

LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Mexican feeder cattle exports to the United States totaled 18,973 head last week, all entering Texas. The year to date volume at 389,632 head is 72 percent greater than for the same period a year ago.

Texas has imported 277,784 feeder cattle from Mexico so far this year, up 106 percent from 134,811 a year ago.

Arizona has imported 111,442 feeders this year compared to 90,199 last year, and New Mexico has imported 346 head compared to 1165 last year.

Texas has exported 104,554 slaughter cattle to Mexico this year compared to 92,906 head last year, New Mexico 28,003 head compared to 8395 last year.

Texas has also exported 218,197 slaughter ewes to Mexico this year, up nine percent from 199,418 for the same period last year. Goat exports this year are 68,050 compared to 83,467 last year. Hog export are 5096 head compared to 31,842 last year.
