Texas for January delivery two loads of No. 1 crossbred
heifers to weigh 550 pounds at $74; in Oklahoma for
current delivery one load of No. 1 English and exotic
cross steers weighing 700 at $77; in the Texas Panhandle
for current delivery five loads of No. 1 English and
exotic cross steers weighing 750 at $76.
JB Cattle Co., Abilene, sold on a delivered basis to
an Oklahoma buyer one load of No. 1 crossbred steers and
bulls weighing 425 pounds at $83.71; to Kansas wheat two
loads of No. 1 Okie and crossbred steers and bulls
weighing 500 at $79.54; to a Texas Panhandle buyer two
loads of No. 1½ crossbred steers and bulls weighing 550
at $74.61.
USDA reports 2200 head of feeder cattle and calves
selling direct off Oklahoma range, including: for Feb. 15
through May 10, 1998 delivery medium and large No. 1
heifers to weigh 725-750 pounds at $72.50-74; for Feb
1-15 delivery similar steers to weigh 800 pounds at $76;
for current delivery similar steers weighing 725 pounds
at $76 and 800 pounds at $73-75.
Direct feeder cattle trade in the Northwest as
confirmed by USDA totaled 500 head. Medium and large No.
1 steers weighing 750 pounds brought $77 f.o.b. Oregon
and 875 pounds $74 f.o.b. Oregon; similar heifers
weighing 850 pounds were $71 f.o.b. Oregon.
Montana direct feeder trade reported to USDA totaled
775 head. A couple of loads of medium and large No. 1
steers weighing 725 pounds brought $75 f.o.b. for
December, similar heifers weighing 600 pounds $78-80
f.o.b. for current delivery.
