Prosser Martin of Del Rio recently bought 95 heifer calves in the Llano area weighing 400 pounds at an average price of $21.25 cwt., and a load of mixed calves weighing around 350 pounds in the Brackettville area at $17 to $20 to put in his feedlot at Del Rio.

Floyd Brown of Adrian, Texas, sold 700 good age cows to Fred Bauer of Denver, Colorado, at 12 cents per pound; these were delivered November 4.

Charlie Waller of Roswell has bought several thousand old ewes recently at around $4.50 to $5.50 per head. Included were 500 from Charlie Fuller of Picacho at five cents per pound, 400 from Kim Yoder of Roswell at $4.75 per head, 250 from Wade Corn at $5 per head, and 200 from Rhoda Harris of Roswell at $4 per head.

Richard Adams of Amarillo has bought 62 steer yearlings from Epps Brown of Sunray, Texas, at $24; these were delivered October 27.

Lee Merrill of Clovis recently delivered 200 steer yearlings weighing 643 pounds at $25 to Texas and Producers Livestock Marketing Association of Kansas City.

Buck Cone of Amarillo sold 140 purebred Hereford cows, three and four years old, 60 with calves and the rest springers, at $225 per cow to Fred Finch of Dalhart.

Don Kuper of Dalhart bought 83 choice quality stocker cows, five year-olds of TO breeding, at $162 per head from the Harlan ranch at Bueyeros, N.M., delivered Nov. 3.

Gale Eastman of Amarillo bought 1270 heifer yearlings estimated to weigh around 500 pounds at $19 for delivery this week from George and Gary Simms of Panhandle.

Ed Claborn of Clayton sold 68 mixed calves weighing 500 pounds at $22.50 and $24.50 to George Wiggins, Clayton, delivered Oct. 30.

Charlie Waller of Roswell bought and received 1500 blackface lambs averaging 88 pounds at $21 cwt. from Carl Lewis, delivered in Roswell off Lewis’ ranch in the Guadalupe Mountains east of Artesia.

Hall Medford of Amarillo sold 102 steer yearlings, choice quality Herefords averaging 600 pounds, at $26 to Bud Brainard of Canadian.

N.C. Crites of Clayton, N.M., sold 200 steer yearlings weighing 625 pounds at $26.50 and delivered them to a Panhandle buyer.

W.A. Rush, Elida, sold 60 fancy quality Hereford steer calves averaging 317 pounds at $34 delivered to Bob Berry of Gage, Okla.

Ferol L. Smith of Des Moines, N.M., sold 164 Hereford steers weighing 711 pounds at $24.50 and delivered them to Torpey Cattle Co., Los Angeles, Calif.

Texline Commercial Cattle Feeding Co., Texline. sold 86 heifers weighing 960, grading 60% choice, at $24.25 to a Memphis, Tenn. packer.

Johnny Daniel of Perryton sold 600 Hereford steers of Mexican origin weighing a little more than 500 pounds at $24 delivered off Nebraska pasture to a Nebraska buyer.

W.J. Hill Jr. of Bushland sold 47 choice 807-pound heifers that yielded 59.74% at $41 on the rail to a local packer.

The USDA reported that the average price received by farmers and ranchers for wool on Oct. 15 was 38.9 cents per pound.

Gordon Whittaker, Eagle, Colo., sold 1100 feeder lambs weighing in the 70s at $29.75 delivered to a Northern Colorado feedlot.

Jim Gray, Tokio, representing Porter & Gray, sold to a Pampa buyer 325 preconditioned steers weighing 400 pounds at $39.50.

The exportation of bobcat pelts has been outlawed. The ban was ordered by the Endangered Species Scientific Authority, a federal agency. The agreement prohibits export of all cat skins from the 82 participating nations, simply because it is a cat.

The Oklahoma-OK Sheep Expansion electronic sale sold out of Perry and Porum, Okla., one load weighing 108 pounds at $71 in No. 1 pelts, $69 wooled.

Thedford Fry, Spur, sold 55 choice 3-6 year-old crossbred springer cows with a few calves at $625 and 44 similar age Brangus cows at $600, these also calving.

USDA reports 1150 cattle selling direct off Oklahoma range in slow trade including: medium and large No. 1 steers weighing 420 pounds at $87.15 and 800 pounds at $69; also large No. 2 steers weighing 535 at $60, all sales for immediate delivery.

Total red meat production under federal inspection last week was an estimated 816.3 million pounds, 2.8 percent above the previous week and 7.4 percent above the same week a year ago.
