PRCA Regular Season Concludes;
Mortensen Clinches All-Around

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Bareback rider Larry Sandvick enjoyed a profitable trip south last weekend.

The four-time National Finals Rodeo qualifier from Kaycee, Wyo., won his event at the Hernando County Cattlemen’s 21st Annual Rodeo in Brooksville, Fla.

Though Sandvick’s weekend earnings were relatively small in comparison to first-place payoffs at larger PRCA rodeos, only $551, the money keeps him ahead of Jeffrey Collins of Wister, Okla., who is currently ranked third in the world bareback riding standings.

The 1997 regular rodeo season ended this past weekend, but the following rankings are still unofficial.

It’s a safe bet, however, that saddle bronc rider Dan Mortensen, Manhattan, Mont., has clinched the all-around competition. Mortensen’s total earnings to date are $153,086. He is followed by calf roper Cody Ohl, Orchard, Texas, with $113,907; Joe Beaver, Huntsville, Texas, $92,569; Chad Hagan, Leesville, La., $78,520 and Rope Myers, Van, Texas, $76,778.
