Referendum Fails;
TSGRA Seeking Input
AUSTIN The Texas Department of Agriculture has
released the official results of the recent referendum
sponsored by the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association
to finance promotion, research and education. The
referendum failed to receive the 66 and two-thirds voting
percentage required to pass it.
Of the 925 people voting on the proposition, 64.3
percent, or 595, voted in favor, and 330 voted against.
Of the 1087 ballots cast, 51 were invalid and 111 voted
only for directors and not on the proposition.
Tim Turner, president of TSGRA, encouraged producers
to provide input on the future direction they want the
association to take.
