Nebraska Outfit Wins
Working Cowboy Rodeo
AMARILLO Wilson-Sillasen Ranches, Arthur, Neb.,
won the 1997 Working Ranch Cowboys Association World
Finals Rodeo here.
The Wilson-Sillasen team amassed a total of 67 points
over three nights to best the YP Ranch, Tuscarora, Nev.,
with 55 points; the Turkey Track, Artesia, N.M., with 53;
and Rancholme Cattle Co., Kaycee, Wyo., with 49.5.
Event winners include: bronc riding, Lee Hart,
Paddy-Creek-Black Diamond Ranch, Morris County, Kan.;
doctoring, Chain Land & Cattle Co., Dewey County,
Okla.; wild cow milking, Nail Ranch, Albany, Texas; team
penning, Pitchfork Ranch, Guthrie, Texas; branding, YP
Ranch; and wild horse race, Wilson-Sillasen Ranches.
Getting the nod as top hand was Brad Wilson of
Wilson-Sillasen Ranches. The top horse was Dusty, owned
by Mike Jones, Chain Land & Cattle.
The oldest contestant was 62 year-old George Peacock,
Nail Ranch foreman, the youngest eight year-old Nathan
Kelly Jr., of the YP Ranch, and the hard luck cowboy was
the Nail Ranchs Johnny Stewart.
James Gholson of the Pitchforks showed Jewels to the
top of the Ranch Horse Show, followed by Buster McClaury
with Flakes, the Pitchforks Bob Moorhouse with Tex,
and the Chains Casey Carson with Leslie.
