Year Lamb Prices On Low Side
Feeder lambs were somewhere around $5 lower the
first week of the new year while fat lambs were off
nearly $10. Slaughter ewes were fully steady, instances
as much as $3 higher.
Big
Plains Fed Cattle Volume Traded On Declining Market
Plains fed cattle trade was brisk this week but at
a price. The Texas Panhandle moved 143,626 head through
Wednesday on an 83,000 head showlist, though 60,000 head
of those sold last Friday.

Feeders Gill Offers Market Outlook For New Year
As goes the corn market, so goes the fed cattle
market, said Jim Gill, market director for the Texas
Cattle Feeders Association. Speaking at the annual TCFA
Year End News Conference here during the holidays, Gill
said fed cattle prices will take their cue from several
factors, with grain supplies and competitive meat
supplies leading the list.

sale before the holidays, slaughter lambs steady to $2

Feeder steers and heifers weighing over 600 pounds sold
$2-4 lower, steers under 600 pounds steady, heifers $1-3
lower, slaughter cows and bulls steady to $2 higher.
