Sam Elliot of Amarillo bought 76 crossbred
Angus-Hereford steers weighing 466 pounds at $22 from
Roper and Jeffrey of Amarillo. From the same sellers, he
bought 25 Angus cows with six calves on them at $167.50;
and 14 Angus bulls averaging 1155 pounds at $17 cwt. The
cattle were loaded at Morse, Texas.

Joe Clayton of Ozona is reported to have bought 400
young ewes, bred to lamb about April 1, at Menard at $18
each in the wool.

Jack Funderburg of Amarillo sold 130 steers weighing
650 pounds at $22.50 and 44 of similar weight at $22 to
Charles Kilgore of Amarillo; these were delivered March
21 and 23.

The Coffield - Gearhart, George Jones and Mrs. W.P.
Jones mixed calves, totaling around 1500 head, have been
sold to Joe Espy of Fort Davis at 27 cents a pound
straight across for delivery around October 20. The trade
was made about a month ago.

Loftin Henderson of Barnhart has contracted 2100
old-crop ewe lambs from White & Harkey of Mason and
Brady for May 1 delivery out of the wool at 20 cents per
pound.

Burns, O'Conner & Skinner of Lexington, Neb.,
bought 340 two-year-old feeder steers estimated to weigh
about 950 pounds and described as choice quality at
$26.50 for April 15 delivery in the Plains, Kan. area.

L.O. Hudson & Son of Melrose, N.M. sold 475 steer
yearlings for Oct. 1-30 delivery, sellers' option, to an
Amarillo buyer at $25 cwt. These steers are expected to
weigh 850-900 pounds at delivery.

steer yearlings weighing 696 pounds at $27 and 153
heifers yearlings weighing 635 pounds at $23.50,
delivered March 16-18, to Ray Barr, Amarillo.

heifer yearlings estimated to weigh around 425 pounds at
$31 for delivery next week to an Oklahoma buyer. These
are described as choice quality cake and grass Herefords.

Mexicos Cattleman of the Year at the annual
convention of the New Mexico Cattle Growers Assn. at
Albuquerque. The associations Beef Cattle
Improvement Committee makes the annual selection.

About 10,000 pounds of choice fine lamb wool have been
sold by Ballinger Wool and Mohair Co. for $3 per grease
pound. Several observers say this is almost surely a
record price. The wool was 12 months growth and in
original bag. It was bought by Prouvost, Lefebvre &
Co.

Sonora Wool and Mohair Co. had a sealed bid mohair
sale Wednesday. It sold 80,000-90,000 pounds of kid hair
in three lines at $5.618, $5.118 and $4.618. An estimated
35,000 pounds of original bag yearling went in three
lines at $3.012, $2.512 and $2.012. About 6000 pounds of
stain brought $1.11.
