A.M. Harkey of Mason has sold about 2000 oldcrop mutton lambs at 20 cents a pound for delivery out of the wool late this month to Shaw and Johnston of Fort Worth.

A.C. Hewgley of Lampasas sold about 700 two year-old ewes for May delivery out of the wool at $21 per head for the ewes with lambs and $15.50 for the dry ewes.

Buck Britt of Clayton sold 200 steer yearlings expected to weigh 425 to 450 pounds, to Grover Jones of Clayton at $25 cwt., May 1 delivery.

Fontayne Elmore of Clarendon bought 300 cows, 185 with calves, from Bob Lindsey of Borger at $160 each.

Joe Clayton of Ozona is reported to have sold about 2500 stocker mutton lambs which he wintered at Brownwood for May delivery out of the wool at 17 cents per pound.

Ralph Collinson, Amarillo, bought 87 steer yearlings weighing 581 pounds at $28.50, delivered last week, from Leon Wilhelm through Ab Wright, both of Amarillo.

W.E. Schott of Silverton, Texas, sold 105 cows, about 75 with calves and the rest springers, at $225 per head to Mrs. J.H. Burson, Silverton, for April 19 delivery.

Jewel Avant of Tulia bought, from Ray Brownfield of Brownfield, Texas, 75 plain quality Angus steers averaging 950 pounds at $24.50 and received them last week off wheat.

Harvey Martin, San Angelo, bought and received 300 ewes and lambs from Preston Dudley of Mertzon at $27.50 per pair.

Kay Green of Clovis sold 70 steer yearlings weighing 700 pounds at $27 and delivered them March 29 to Kenneth Cook of Vega, Texas.

Cheri Slikker of Bakersfield, Calif., a student at Bakersfield Junior College, was crowned Miss Wool of America at ceremonies in San Angelo last week.

The Diamond A Feedlot in Roswell, N.M., sold 320 fed steers weighing 1000-1050 pounds to the Allen Meat Co., San Francisco, at $23 f.o.b. the lots.

Joe Keast of Dalhart sold 450 good to choice steer yearlings weighing about 600 pounds at $26 delivered to Cecil Cornelius of Denver.

Ray Barber of Amarillo sold to a local buyer 90 heifers weighing about 500 pounds at $25 in the Hereford area.

The USDA estimated this week that red meat production under federal inspection during the first three months this year set an all-time record of 6056 million pounds; this would be 5.1 percent above actual production during the first quarter of last year and 9.7 percent above the same period of 1961.

McDonald Wool Co. Inc., Menard. sold about 13,500 pounds of graded spring kid mohair at $1.10 per pound; various warehouses in Central Texas were reported paying $1-1.02 for spring kid, 52 cents for yearling, and 35 cents for ungraded adult hair.

Master Feeders Inc., Hooker, Okla., sold 615 steers weighing 1050-1200 and grading 75-80 percent choice at $26.25 to Kansas and Texas packers.

The incentive payment level for wool sold in the 1982 clip year will be 100.3 percent. For mohair it will be 56 percent, USDA has announced.

Lometa Livestock Inc. Wool and Mohair sold about 90 percent of a 100,000 pound offering. Top price was $2.875 per grease pound for some oldcrop lamb wool. Finewool from Central Texas oldcrops ranged from $2.13 to mostly $2.60, crossbreds mostly $1.15-1.80.

Steve Patton, Melrose, N.M., bought in that area two loads of No. 1 heifers weighing 721 pounds at $81.16. Patton sold a set of exotic cross heifers weighing 675 at $84.

Vann-Roach Cattle Co., Fort Worth, bought in Central Texas three loads of No. 1 crossbred and exotic heifers weighing 725-750 pounds at $79.25.

The incentive rate for wool sold in 1992 will be $1.662 per dollar of sales, that for mohair $4.364. Unshorn lambs will be supported at $4.92 cwt.
