Vann-Roach Cattle Co., Fort Worth, bought in the
Texas Panhandle for May delivery 470 No. 1 English and
exotic cross steers to weigh 800 pounds at $73; for
current delivery 200 similar steers weighing 775 at $76,
also 63 similar steers weighing 800 at $73.50, and 250
such steers weighing 800 at $73. The firm bought in
Oklahoma for June delivery four loads of similar heifers
to weigh 650 at $3.50 back of the August futures board.
Ty Jones Cattle Co., Canyon, bought in the Texas
Panhandle 260 No. 1½ Okie and crossbred steers weighing
750 pounds at $75, also 480 No. 1-1½ Okie and crossbred
steers weighing 825 at $72, and 150 No. 1 crossbred
heifers weighing 700 at $71.50.
USDA reports 18,055 head of feeder cattle selling
direct off Oklahoma range, including: for delivery the
last half of July, medium and large No. 1 steers to weigh
750 pounds at $77; for current delivery similar steers
weighing 700-790 pounds at $73-77.50, also 800-850 pounds
at $71-73.50, late mostly $71.50-72, and 1000 pound
weights at $66; similar heifers weighing 675-785 pounds
at $71-73 early, later $70-72; and several loads of
Brahman crosses weighing 750 at $69.
Direct feeder cattle trade in the Northwest as
confirmed by USDA totaled 500 head. Medium and large No.
1 steers weighing 875 pounds brought $74.50 f.o.b.
Washington, a few weighing 865 pounds $70 delivered in
Washington; similar heifers weighing 850 were $72.50
f.o.b. Washington, a few weighing 800 pounds $68
delivered in Washington.
Montana direct feeder cattle sales as reported by USDA
came to 440 head. A couple of loads of medium and large
No. 1 steers weighing 800 pounds brought $75 f.o.b. for
current delivery, a couple of loads of similar heifers
weighing 750 pounds $72.
