45 YEARS AGO
The Flying V Ranch oldcrop lambs at San Saba, owned by
Mrs. Al Groebl and Howard Derrick, were sold last week to
Armour at $19.50 cwt. f.o.b. local shipping point,
through Don Anderson of San Angelo. There were 2600 head;
they weighed 95 to 110 pounds and averaged 97 pounds.

Walton Kothmann of Menard bought 200 choice two
year-old ewes with lambs from Merlin Rogers, also of
Menard, at $20 a pair.

Lem Jones of Junction this week bought 850 yearling
ewes from Walker Epperson of Rocksprings for delivery
June 1 at $13.25 each. Jones last week bought 88 aged
Angus cows with quarter-blood Brahman calves from Womack
Brothers of Menard at $130 a pair.

B.O. Burris of Socorro, New Mexico, has bought the old
Louis Almgren ranch, 15 miles southwest of Fairplay,
Colorado, from J.L. Heard of Vernon, Texas, for about
$70,000 for 2400 acres of deeded land.

John Leatherwood of Las Vegas, N.M., sold 1360 steer
yearlings and 75 heifer yearlings for Oct. 10-24 delivery
at $24.90 straight across to Don Anderson of Eaton, Colo.
These cattle are expected to average close to 750 pounds
when delivered.

Walter Smith of Wyoming, Ill., bought 108 two year-old
steers averaging 950 pounds at $25.90 for delivery this
week from Garland Motley, Hollis, Okla.

LeRoy Russell of San Angelo bought and received 1000
spring lambs weighing about 90 pounds at $21.50 from
Buster Dooley of Brackettville.

Bill Bookout, Newkirk, N.M., sold 275 mixed calves to
Amarillo buyers at $30 straight across for delivery Sept.
1 to Oct. 25.

The T-4 Ranch near Tucumcari, N.M., is reported to
have sold about 800 steer calves for fall delivery to
Lewis Cooper, Kenna, N.M., at $32.50 cwt.

Wendell Sterrett of Roswell sold and delivered 100
head of choice Hereford steer yearlings weighing about
675 pounds at $24 to Sol Bouziden of Alva, Okla.

Raymond Welch, Canyon, sold 73 choice quality steer
yearlings averaging 558 pounds at $26.75 and delivered
them to V. Lee Matney of Amarillo.

D.A. Borth of Dalhart sold 225 heifer yearlings
described as choice Herefords weighing about 625 pounds
at $23 cwt. and delivered them to Colorado feeders.

Jim Monroe of Hereford, Texas, bought 170 choice
quality Hereford heifers weighing about 390 pounds at
$112.50 per head from Lloyd Wright of Yeso, N.M., through
Rusty Armstrong of Roswell. These were bought for
breeding herd replacements.
Wright also sold 83 Hereford-Angus crossbred mixed
calves weighing 345 pounds at $31 to $33 to a Roswell
area farmer.
30 YEARS AGO
Indio Calzada, Sanderson, Texas, bought 10,000 three
to five year-old Angora mutton goats weighing 86 pounds
from Silver Lake Ranch, Brackettville, and shipped them
to Mexico City for slaughter. They had been shorn about
two months ago and cost $8.75 cwt. delivered and weighed
in Del Rio.

Moody Farms Feed Yards, Pampa, bought 101 No. 2 Okie
heifers weighing 426 at $24.50 delivered to Pampa from
Bill Hodges, Alexandria, La.

David Oldfield, Amarillo, bought 304 Angus and black
baldface steers weighing 569 at $28.50 in the Coldwater,
Kan., area on a Cornbelt order.

weighing 1070 and grading 70 percent choice at $26 to
Swift & Co., Guymon.

good 643 pound heifers at $25.50 to a South Texas packer.

Cattle on feed May 1 in the seven states reported
monthly totaled 9,391,000 head, up six percent from a
year ago.

Bend, Ariz. area 3500 Mexican Hereford steers weighing
about 485 pounds at $60, and 1000 similar steers weighing
380 pounds at $70, and bought in the Clarendon, Texas
area 400 crossbred Brahman steers weighing 600 pounds at
$52.50, all delivered.

pounds of eight months wool. Prices ranged from 83 to
98¼ cents grease, bulk in the high 80s and low 90s.

Commission records. Cattle entering the state from other
states totaled 191,492.
