Public Dove Hunting

AUSTIN — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is again seeking landowners to participate in its annual public dove hunting program.

The short-term leases run only during dove season, Sept. through Oct. 30 this year. Enrolled areas will be posted by TPWD and open only to hunters who hold Annual Public Hunting permits through the department. Parking is restricted and game wardens monitor the sites periodically.

Ideal land includes fields from 100 to 300 acres with native sunflower, croton, pigweed, ragweed, sudan, milo or other small grains. A water source should be available, along with nearby cover areas of mesquite or liveoak.

Interested landowners may contact TPWD in Austin at (800) 792-1112, or (512) 389-4972.
