Harold Newman of Fort Worth this week bought through Roy Harkey of San Angelo, 1056 oldcrop clipped lambs weighing 82 pounds from Leroy Spires of Snyder at 19 cents a pound and 214 straight four year-old ewes with lambs from Pete Ainsworth of Colorado City at $14 a pair.

J.T. Trew Cattle Company of Alanreed, Texas, last week sold two loads of mixed short yearlings averaging 420 pounds at $19 and $20.50 for heifers and steers, respectively, to Ralph Britten of Groom, Texas.

Mrs. A.B. Burnett of Dumas, Texas, is reported to have sold, last week, 60 steer yearlings averaging 670 pounds at $20 to Colorado buyers.

Carroll of Lewis of Clarendon, Texas, bought 325 mixed short yearlings averaging 525 pounds from Mrs. Dannie P. Fancher of Seymour at $16 and $18, respectively.

E.T. Rafferty, Gruver, Texas, last week delivered 100 steer yearlings averaging 685 pounds to Carl Franks of Oklahoma City at $19.40 cwt.

W.N. Barrick, Amarillo, and Carrol Chaloupka, Dalhart, bought 88 heifer yearlings and 114 steer yearlings averaging about 500 pounds at $130 and $140, respectively.

M.D. Eagle of Panhandle bought, from Jim and Bob Mecaskey, Panhandle, 70 heifers weighing about 650 pounds at $26 for June 1 delivery.

Bert Kincaid of Fort Stockton, Texas, has contracted around 3000 Rambouillet type mutton lambs from a New Mexico seller for November delivery at 20 cents per pound.

Russell Menzies of El Paso reports he sold and delivered, last week, 1037 blackface yearling ewes to a Mr. Cooksey of Tennessee at $21 per head. Also 2000 whiteface yearling ewes to Jap Foster, Kent, Texas, at $23.50 per head.

Troy Whatley, Tucumcari, N.M., sold 50 steer calves weighing 440 pounds at $35 and delivered last week, to J.A. Kemp of Snyder.

Lowell Winsor of Amarillo bought, in the Wichita Falls area, a string of 470 crossbred Brangus type steer yearlings weighing about 550 pounds at $22.

Bogle Feedlots at Dexter, N.M., sold about 650 fed heifers and steers, good and choice grade cattle weighing 850-975 pounds at $21.65 to 422 and delivered them to various area packers.

J.E. Littlefield of Happy, Texas, sold 80 heifer calves averaging 480 pounds at $26 delivered to Ruby Vise, Happy.

San Angelo wool traders said they'd heard wool had brought various prices, from $1.45 to $1.50 clean basis.

W.J. Gourley of Ft. Worth has leased pasture for 400 heifer yearlings from Sauble Ranch Co., Springer, N.M., at $20 per head for the season.

Menard County Commission Co., Menard, Texas, bought about 1000 good and choice lambs this week in the Menard area at $25.50-26.50, weights 75-78 pounds.

Ranchman's Wool & Mohair Commission House, Brownwood, sold about 250,000 pounds of wool at sealed bid from 83 cents to $1.27, bulk $1.05-1.15.

Randy Johnson, Muleshoe, sold to a Childress buyer 100 coming two year-old Hereford bred heifers weighing 750-800 pounds at $425 per head delivered.

Sooner Beef Producers, Guymon, Okla.: 120 steers weighing 1025 lbs., 50% choice, $45.75.

In Rocksprings Wednesday, about 90,000 pounds of 12 months wool sold at mostly $1.15-1.22, top $1.37; and 130,000 pounds of eight months bulked 90-95 cents, top $1.10 at Priour-Varga Wool & Mohair Warehouse.

Junction Warehouse Co. sold 246,670 pounds of 12 months wool basically within a range of 83 cents to a top of $1.27 on a very light 2945 pound clip from Bob Allen, Junction. Bulk of the 12s sold in a $1.12-1.15 range.

Sammy Howell, Elida, N.M., sold off wheat to a Texas buyer 140 mixed breed steers weighing 621 pounds at $64.

Ty Jones Cattle Co., Canyon, bought in the Texas Panhandle 250 No. 1 steers weighing 750 pounds at $63, also one load of No. 1 heifers weighing 625 at $58.50 and 260 similar heifers weighing 775 at $61.

Total red meat production under federal inspection last week was an estimated 749.8 million pounds, 4.5 percent above the same week a year ago. Cattle slaughter was 689,000 head compared to 673,000 the previous week and 695,000 the same week last year.

The United States Wool Marketing Assn. offered 768,664 pounds of skirted wool at sealed bid and 90 percent sold. Prices on 70s grade ranged from 69 cents to $1.088 for a 84.16 cent average in the grease, f.o.b. warehouses.
