Cody Ohl Shines Yet Again
At Recent Beef Empire Days

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Defending world champion calf roper Cody Ohl, of Orchard Texas, outshined the best again this year at the recent Beef Empire Days PRCA Rodeo in Garden City, Kan.

A year ago, Ohl left Garden City with the rodeo’s steer roping title, a win that not only qualified him for PRCA’s 1997 all-around race, but also catapulted him into the all-around lead by more than $20,000. This year, 24 year-old Ohl outroped 72 others to earn $2910 and the Beef Empire Days two-head calf roping title. The win maintained Ohl’s second-place ranking in the Crown Royal world calf roping standings with $39,694.

Ty Murray, Stephenville maintains the lead in the all-around standings with $72,564 in winnings to date. Murray is followed by Trevor Brazile, Decatur, Texas, with $61,443; Herbert Theriot, Poplarville, Miss., $41,395; J.P. Wickett, Muldrow, Okla., $33,255 and Kurt Goulding, Duncan, Okla., $29,452.
