Vestal Askew of Sonora this week bought 1200 whiteface
lambs from Edwin and Wesley Sawyer, also of Sonora, at
$18 for the fat end grading good or better and weighing
72 pounds, and $13 for the feeders.

Fontayne Elmore of Clarendon, Texas, sold three loads
of plain quality young cows with calves to Jess
Pendergast of Hillis, Oklahoma, at $84 per pair; these
were delivered this week.

Allan Dawson of Amarillo has bought and received 500
steer yearlings from Archer Brothers of Spearman, Texas,
at 15 cents a pound, June 27 and June 30 delivery.

Grover Swift of Miles City, Montana, is reported to
have bought and received 100 registered Hereford cows and
calves from W.H. Latham and Son of Dalhart at $200 a
pair.

H.G. Bedford of Midland recently sold 270 cows and
calves to Montana buyers at prices "too cheap to
report." He said the ranch from which the cows were
shipped has received less than half an inch of rain this
year.

Mrs. Ashby McMullan of Ozona has bought, through
Martin Harvick there, about 800 whiteface ewe lambs from
Seahorn & Hicks and 300 from Jim Ad Harvick, all of
Ozona, for Aug. 1 delivery, at $23 cwt.

Sam Kotara of Groom bought 80 mixed calves expected to
weigh around 475 pounds at $28 and $30 for Oct. 20
delivery in the Quitaque, Texas area.

Jim and Bob Mecaskey of Panhandle, Texas, sold 370
steers expected to weigh 850 to 900 pounds at $25 for
Sept. 15 delivery to a Panhandle buyer.

Lee Lowder of Allen, Kan., is reported to have sold
about 400 heifer yearlings for September delivery at
$24.50, expected to weigh 650-700 pounds.

Elmer Musel of Burdett, Kan., sold one load of fed
heifers weighing 850 pounds at $25.10 and delivered them
last week to an Arkansas City packer.

Bob Mecaskey of Panhandle sold and 50 Angus steer
yearlings weighing about 600 pounds at $25 to an Amarillo
buyer.

Red meat production last week was estimated at 451
million pounds, or slightly below that of the week before
but 11 percent above the same week last year, says the
USDA.

Oldtimers in the Texas wool business say there's less
unsold wool in growers' hands now than they've seen
before at this time of the year. A well informed dealer
says he thinks there's less than a million pounds left
for sale.

weight 650.

$21 per head to a Sterling City buyer.

fours to sevens weighing about 950, with calves from
babies to 210 pounds.

The first Texas kid mohair sale in several months
moved around 70,000 pounds in San Angelo this week.
Prices, at $1 per pound for No. 1 mohair, 85 cents for
No. 2 and 75 cents for No. 3 hair, were lower than at the
last sales months ago.
