Persistence Is The Watchword
For Bulldogger Vince Walker
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Steer wrestler Vince
Walker believes in persistence. That approach paid off
big at the recent Pine Country Pro Rodeo in Flagstaff,
Ariz., just as it has been paying off for Walker all
year.
The Oakdale, Calif. cowboy won the steer wrestling
average at Flagstaff and pocketed $1019. That wasnt
his first big win of the year, however. He hit pay dirt
in Denver at the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo
and at the San Angelo, Texas, Stock Show and Rodeo in
March.
His Flagstaff win boosts Walker to ninth place in the
Crown Royal world steer wrestling standings. Walker, in
his ninth year of professional competition, is no
stranger to the NFR qualification race.
Little has changed in the all-around competition. Ty
Murray, Stephenville, Texas, continues his lead with
$75,778 in total earnings. Not far back, however, is
Trevor Brazile, Decatur, Texas, with $63,650. Brazile is
followed by Herbert Theriot, Poplarville, Miss., with
$46,025; Kurt Goulding, Duncan, Okla., $34,476; and J.P.
Wickett, Muldrow, Okla., $34,210.
