Ty Murray Takes All At Recent
Calgary Stampede Rodeo Event
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Six-time world
all-around rodeo champion Ty Murray reminded everyone at
the recent Calgary (Alberta) Stampede just why he has
seven PRCA gold buckles in his trophy case, not to
mention that he also owns rights to the 1993 world bull
riding championship.
Murray, of Stephenville, Texas, won the rodeos
bull riding average title with 246.5 points on three
bulls to add $7151 to his 1998 season earnings. The
average win was just the beginning of Murrays
domination at Calgary.
The 28 year-old roughstock talent also won the
Stampedes $50,000 bull riding bonus round. The
$50,000 does not apply to the PRCAs Crown Royal
World Standings, however. Though Murray failed to earn
checks in the rodeos bareback riding and saddle
bronc riding events, his three-event status combined with
his success in the bull riding competition also earned
him the Calgary Stampedes all-around title.
Murray currently leads the world all-around standings
with $112,352. He is followed by Trevor Brazile, Decatur,
Texas, with $82,624; Herbert Theriot, Poplarville, Miss.,
$58,299; Kurt Goulding, Duncan, Okla., $57,422; and Joe
Beaver, Huntsville, Texas, $49,857.
