Domestic Wool Quiet,
Aussie Sharply Off

GREELEY, Colo. —(USDA)— Domestic wool trading was at a complete standstill last week, demand light and seller interest limited due to recent sharp declines in prices.

At Sydney, Australia, on July 7, 8, and 9, the northern region market indicator fell 35 points from 619A to 584. Offerings totaled 37,952 bales and sales 29,795 bales. Micron 19 wools remained steady to one cent higher, 20 through 23 microns 42-47 lower, 24 through 26 microns 43-50 lower, 28 to 30 microns 18-21 lower. Total offerings were predominately good style 20 to 22 microns. All Australian wool sales are in recess on weeks three, four and five. Wool sales resume operations during week six on August 3-7.
