New Texas Beef Co-op
Set To Sell Stocks

AMARILLO — A Texas-based beef cooperative known as "SMART" — for Southwest Marketing Alliance from Ranch to Table — has received approval from the State of Texas to begin selling stock.

The cooperative was formed to promote premium cattle, market branded beef and pay producers premium prices for better than average cattle fitting the requirements, says an informational news release. Producers with full memberships will also receive share dividends on the overall profits of the cooperative at the end of the fiscal year.

Producers and feedyards will have to meet guidelines set by the cooperative to be eligible for membership. The cooperative is currently targeting Central and South Texas areas with a future office location to be in the San Antonio area.
