Prices Up And Down

GOLDTHWAITE —(July 31)— Lambs were too scarce for a test, slaughter ewes and bucks near steady; stock Spanish nanny goats $3-5 higher, slaughter classes steady with kids over 40 pounds $4-5 higher; slaughter Angora goats $2 lower, stock goats untested. Receipts totaled 5500 head.

Sheep: utility 2-3 slaughter ewes $17-27.50, good 2-3 $28-39, bucks $20-30; medium and large 1-2 solidmouth stock ewes $53-71 per head; slaughter Barbado ewes 60-80 lbs. $30-40, bucks 55-95 lbs. $40-60, 35-60 lbs. $48-55, some 65-80 lbs. $65-75 cwt.; young stock ewes 60-80 lbs. $35-40 cwt., bucks 75-110 lbs. $80-270 per head.

Spanish goats: choice and prime slaughter kids 20-40 lbs. $55-64 cwt., 40-65 lbs. $62-75, few to $78, nannies 70-125 lbs. $41-58, some thin $30-41, billies and muttons 85-130 lbs. $54-67; young stock nannies $30-46 per head, some 55-70 lbs. $45-60 cwt., Boer cross nannies kids 30-50 lbs. $67-78 cwt., nannies $45-78 per head, billies $75-115 per head.

Angora goats: slaughter muttons and billies $30-44 cwt., thin nannies and muttons $27-30, few kids 35-55 lbs. $43-58.
