"The other day," said John, "a young feller told me how he was going to get rich in a hurry. He said he was going to handle livestock in the country strictly on a small commission basis. He figured by getting a reputation for locating and placing stock at a very low figure, and always in an honest, efficient manner, he could pack up all the business around here."

Pokin' Fun
Durant, Oklahoma, is known for several things, including the headquarters for the Choctaw Nation and a vast acreage of peanuts. She informed me that she only wanted a horse that would go and stop when she wanted, stand without jerking, work any place, was perfectly gentle and didn't have any bad habits like kicking or biting.

Wildlife By Design
Occasionally I get requests from county trapping clubs who are struggling with membership attrition (hence funding). They recognize that much of their respective county now harbors more deer hunters than sheep or goat ranchers and seek to increase membership/support by trying to rally the camo-clad brotherhood to join their battle against predators.
