Texas Calf Roper Wins Big
In Two Northwestern Rodeos
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. While Hurricane Bonnie
was wreaking havoc in the South, Texas calf roper Trent
Walls was roping havoc in the North.
The 25 year-old cowboy from Stephenville, Texas, roped
himself $4583 in prize money recently at a pair of
Washington rodeos.
Walls needed just 17.5 seconds to win the two-head
calf roping average title and $3308 at the $104,173 Horse
Heaven Round-up in Kennewick and 7.9 seconds to pocket
$1275 at the Kitsap County Fair & Rodeo in Bremerton.
Walls weekend haul from the North boosts him to
third place in the Sept. 1 Crown Royal world calf roping
standings and puts him in contention for his first
qualification for the National Finals Rodeo, scheduled
for Dec. 4-13 in Las Vegas, Nev. Walls finished the
97 season 24th with $39,903.
