FEEDLOT LAMBS have seen their value slip steadily the last few weeks, due in part to a recent surge in imported lamb meat and, to a lesser degree, to a stagnant market for pelts. As the latter trade is established by foreign demand, the lamb industry is truly feeling the effects of the global marketplace.

U.S. Meat Production 9.8% Below A Year Ago
Total red meat production under federal inspection last week was estimated at 787.6 million pounds, down 10.7 percent from a week earlier and 9.8 percent less than a year ago. Cumulative meat production for the year to date was 2.7 percent above a year ago at 30.5 billion pounds.

Colorado City Feeder Cattle In Good Demand
Trading was active and demand good, though lack of a sale last week allowed no price comparison. Receipts totaled 2522 head.
