Steers, Heifers Firm To Up
In Angelo Special Sale Monday

SAN ANGELO — Steers and heifers were firm to $1 higher in the season’s sixth special feeder sale at Producers Livestock Auction.

Trading was fairly active and demand good, the quality attractive with numerous bunches of fresh preconditioned cattle. Calves made up 60 percent of receipts, which totaled 2317 head compared to 2525 for the previous special sale last month and 2930 for the same day last year.

USDA reported prices this way:

Feeder steers: medium and large No. 1 300-400 pounds $88.50-95, 400-500 pounds $75-85.50, 500-600 pounds $73-80, 600-700 pounds $64-74.50, 700-800 pounds $61.50-66.50; medium and large 1-2 300-400 pounds $78-88, 400-500 pounds $65-75, 500-600 pounds $60-73, 600-700 pounds $58-64, 700-800 pounds $58-61.50.

Feeder heifers: medium and large No. 1 400-500 pounds $63-71, 500-600 pounds $60-67, 600-700 pounds $60-65, 700-800 pounds $61-62.50; medium and large 1-2 300-400 pounds $60-70, 400-500 pounds $58-63, 500-700 pounds $56-60.
