Pokin' Fun
I was in the supermarket recently in
a strange town, looking for the gourmet snack
food section I had this hunger pain for
Velveeta cheese and Vienna sausage when I
couldnt help but notice the number of
ladies shopping with their kids. Most of them
were pushing one child in the cart, dragging one,
and looking for another. |

A small tonnage of staple finewool
sold a few weeks ago in Texas for one dollar and
two and a half cents a pound. I realize news of
wool sales interests the hollow horn operators
and the meat goat herders about as much as a line
judge's job at the U.S. Tennis Open appeals to
Mark McGwire. |

On The Edge Of
Common Sense
I guess most folks would think of
farming and ranching as a traditional way of
life. Maybe even out of tune with current trends.

Rolling Stones magazine. And when was the last
time you heard a teenager say, "Boy, these
new fencing pliers are really cool!" |

tractor shed. His two geldings saw us and came
charging up to us at a high lope, playfully
bucking and snorting. We stood our ground as
at the last possible minute they
shied off. |

Hoover Case has had a lot of luck in his
life, not all of it good. But he's not
complaining. To hear him tell it, this world of
ours is pretty swell. You'd think so too, if
you'd walk in his crutches for a few days. At
6'4", Hoover has always stood head and
shoulders above the rest of us. The thing is,
he's lucky to be standing at all. |

In the past I have argued that you
dont need an accounting system to run a
small business, but computers are finally getting
to the Model A stage from the Model T. I remember
we had a Model B Ford, but that is another story
