Brown Cattle Co., Clyde, sold on a delivered basis to
Colorado buyers one load of home-raised Limousin-English
cross steers weighing 576 pounds at $73, also one load of
No. 1 black, black whiteface and red whiteface heifers
weighing 525 at $70.61; to the Gulf Coast area one load
of No. 1 fancy Brangus replacement heifers weighing 546
pounds at $71.30 f.o.b. and a load of No. 1 and better
Brangus cows, 4-6 years old and 5-7 months bred, at
$54.90 f.o.b.; to an Oklahoma growing yard a load of No.
1½ English and English cross steer and bull yearlings
weighing 569 at $64.94 delivered; to the Texas Panhandle
a load of No. 1 heifers weighing 569 at $64 delivered,
also a load of No. 1 English steers and bulls in medium
to heavy flesh, weighing 638 at $60.50 delivered.
USDA reports 3590 head of feeder cattle selling direct
off Oklahoma range, including: for March 1999 delivery
medium and large No. 1 heifers to weigh 700 pounds at
$69.50; for current delivery similar steers weighing
618-625 pounds at $70-72, 600 pounds at $72.50, 675
pounds at $69, 700-750 pounds at $68-69.50, and 800
pounds at $67-68; similar heifers weighing 625-750 pounds
at $64-65 and fleshy heifers weighing 725 at $62.
Direct feeder cattle trade in the Northwest as
confirmed by USDA totaled 2400 head. Medium and large No.
1 steers weighing 570 pounds brought $71, 625 pounds $70
and 850 pounds $64 with one string delivered at $65;
similar heifers weighing 800 pounds were $61.
Montana range sales as reported by USDA came to 6065
head. Medium and large No. 1 steers weighing 475 pounds
earned $78.50, 525-575 pounds $75-76, 600-650 pounds
$72-75, a couple of loads weighing 550 pounds $76 for
November delivery, and 625-650 pounds $72 for November;
similar heifers weighing 500-550 pounds were $70-70.50,
600-650 pounds $67-69, 550 pounds $70 for November, and
600-625 pounds $68 for November.
