Shelby Jersig of Clovis bought 100 cows and calves
from Raymond Eaves of Lovington at $9.50 cwt., weighed
together, October 15 delivery.

Peach Smith of Stratford, Texas, sold two loads of
steer yearlings weighing 784 pounds at $16 to Carl Frank
of Gruver, Texas.

Gene Atkinson of Dalhart sold 75 good quality mixed
calves October 10 to John Craig, Limon, Colorado, at $14
and $16.

Fame and considerable fortune came again to young Big
Spring, Texas cattle feeders this week when James Cauble,
18 year-old 4-H Club member, showed his Hereford steer to
the grand championship of the American Royal in Kansas
City, and Lloyd Robinson of Big Spring showed the reserve
grand champion. The steers were both sired by Real Silver
Publican, owned by Dorothea Griffin, well-known Hereford
breeder at Lawn, Texas.

M.L. Happel of Amarillo and Walter Hubbard of Oklahoma
City bought, on eastern order, 340 plain quality
whiteface steers weighing 889 pounds at $22 from Otis
Gooding, Hugo, Okla., delivered Oct. 13.

Leo Forrest of Hereford, Texas, sold, off his ranch at
Las Animas, Colo., 70 mixed calves weighing 395 pounds at
$30.50 and $33 and delivered them Oct. 19 to Herschel
Braley, Las Animas.

Bob Mundell of Walsh, Colo., bought 100 aged wet cows
at $150 per head from Jack Renfro of Hereford, Texas, and
received them recently off Renfro's ranch at Kenton,
Okla.

D.W. Clark of Dodge City has recently bought and
received about 700 heifer yearlings and 1000 steer
yearlings in the Clayton and Mt. Dora, N.M. areas at
$24-24.50 for the heifers, weighing about 650 pounds, and
$26 for the steers, weighing 700 pounds.

Foster S. Price of Sterling City last week delivered
41 heifer calves weighing 500 pounds, 26 steer calves
weighing 615, and 45 steers weighing 580 pounds to Emmett
LeFors of Pampa, Texas at $31 for the heifers and $33 for
the steers.

Frosty Morn Packing Co., Montgomery, Ala., bought and
received 65 good and choice fed steers weighing 1002
pounds at $23 from the Diedrichsen feedlots at Dumas,
Texas.

of the American Hereford Assn. at the annual meeting at
Kansas City. House succeeds W.P. Adams II, Odebolt, Iowa.

Ben Keele of Tatum, N.M., sold 116 Angus mixed calves
weighing 392 pounds at $26.50 and $28.50 and delivered to
Tom Price, Tatum.

Burguete Ranch, Vaughn, N.M., sold and delivered 3000
mutton lambs averaging about 83 pounds to Edwin Cain of
Clovis at $15 for the feeders and $17 for the fats; about
1000 head sorted fat. The lambs were delivered at the
ranch.

O'Brien Cattle Co., Amarillo, sold 325 heifer
yearlings weighing 650 at $22 and delivered them to
Colorado feeders.

Wool Growers Central Storage in San Angelo sold
177,000 pounds of wool in a sealed bid sale at the
strongest prices reported this season. About 140,000
pounds of fall ewe wool bulked at 50-55 cents per pound
and 37,000 pounds of lamb wool at 43-49 5/8 cents. Forte
Dupee, Sawyer Co., Boston, was the major buyer.

C&D Cattle Co., Briscoe, Texas, bought 114 choice
Hereford heifer calves weighing 407 at $26 from Pat Huff
& Son, Allison, Texas, to go on wheat pasture.

Texas Beef Producers Feed Yards, Dumas, sold 145
steers weighing 1050 pounds, grading 80 percent choice,
at $27 to an Alabama packer.

J.B. Buske, Friona, bought 198 Hereford and black
baldface steers weighing 650 at $26 from Austin O'Neil,
Roy, N.M., shrunk three percent at the ranch.

500 steers weighing 1200, grading 70 percent choice, at
$26.50 to a New Mexico packer and two loads of similar
steers at the same price to an Oklahoma packer.

whiteface lambs weighing in the low 70s at $32 on the
mutton lambs and $34 on the ewe lambs.

Cattle and calves on feed in 23 major feeding states
Oct. 1 totaled 11.3 million head, 16 percent more than a
year ago and 22 percent higher than two years ago but
only four percent above last July 1.

states were down four percent from last year but up three
percent from the same date in 1981. They totaled 8.47
million head.
