The West Texas Meat Goat Symposium is set for November 12-13. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. The event will be held at the Texas A&M University Research and Extension Center north of San Angelo.

Scott Edmonson has been named Schleicher County’s new County Extension agent-agriculture. Edmonson transfers to Schleicher County from Guadulupe County where he has been since June 1996.

Edmonson is a two-time graduate of Oklahoma State University at Stillwater, Oklahoma. He was raised on a farm near Duncan, Oklahoma. He fills the position vacated by Mike Harbour.

The West Texas/Southeastern New Mexico Equine Conference is set for October 31 in the Ector County Coliseum. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

The program targets the serious horseman who makes part or all of his or her living with horses. The conference is being sponsored by the Extension offices in Andrews, Ector and Midland counties. More information and/or registration is available through one of the sponsoring county Extension offices.

The Wyoming Stock Growers and Wyoming Wool Growers associations have scheduled a joint convention for December 2-4 at the Parkway Plaza Hotel and Convention Center in Casper.

The convention is preceded on December 1 by the annual meeting of the Wyoming Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative, hosted by the Wyoming Private Lands Grazing Team.
