Guy Allen Claims Record 13
World Steer Roping Titles
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Guy Allen's name isn't
just written in the record books, it's chiseled.
"The Legend" claimed a record 13th world steer roping title more
single-event titles than any other competitor in history
at the National Finals Steer Roping Oct. 30-31 in
Guthrie, Okla.
The 40 year-old cowboy from Lovington, New Mexico,
broke his own regular-season earnings record of $66,499
just prior to the '98 NFSR by placing in the money at 39
of the 48 rodeos he roped at during the season to boast
$87,927 in steer roping money.
Competing in his record 22nd
NFSR, Allen pocketed another $11,205 at the 10-round
finals to boost his year-end earnings to $99,132, which
shattered the year-end steer roping earnings record of
$84,324 he set last year.
Top five standings in PRCA all-around competition are
