Lamb
Prices Higher, Lamb Imports Up
Lamb prices moved higher on both fats and feeders
this week despite the second largest weekly volume of
lamb imports to reach the country this year. Lamb and
mutton passed for entry into the United States totaled
3.2 million pounds last week, the equivalent of 64
percent of domestic production. Most of that would be
from lightweight animals, and lightweight carcasses on
the East Coast moved up $5. The upcoming holiday fare
must be favoring lamb.

Fed Cattle Trading Off Again In Short Session
Santa Claus ain't comin' to town. At least he

faced $57 bids Wednesday, at least briefly. Texas counted
about 30,000 head selling Tuesday and a total of 77,094
through midweek on a 78,000-head showlist. Almost 33,000
of them were captives.

Sheep Have Been
The Foundation At Maria Behety For A Century
RIO GRANDE, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina
Maria Behety is one of the largest and most reputable
sheep farms in the Southern hemisphere. Jose Menendez, a
native of Spain, established Maria Behety in 1897 when he
brought sheep from the Falklands. Originally it was known
simply as "No. 2" because it was actually the
second farm established by Menendez, and the animals were
branded as such.

Donate Land To Save Ancient Art
In their quest to control ever more private

have made a habit of portraying ranchers as despoilers of
the earth. As much land as possible, they insist, must be
"protected" from these greedy merchants of
capitalist excess.
