AUSTIN —(TDA)— The January 1, 1999 Texas goat inventory was down four percent at 1.35 million head, the same number as the sheep and lamb inventory, which was down 12 percent. Angora goat numbers declined 27 percent to 550,000 head while Spanish and other goats were up 23 percent at 800,000 head. Angora goat numbers in the four major producing states were down 25 percent to 631,000 head. |
