Mexican Feeder Cattle
Prices Down Last Week

LAS CRUCES, N.M. —(USDA)— Mexican feeder steer calves and yearlings moving into the U.S. sold $1-2 lower last week. Movement totaled 13,308 head, all going into Texas.

Medium and large No. 1 feeder steers: 300-400 lbs. $92-104, 400-500 lbs. $82-94, 500-600 lbs. $78-84.

The total number of feeder cattle imported into the U.S. from Mexico for the year to date was up 36 percent from a year ago at 183,007 head.

A total of 2292 slaughter cattle were exported to Mexico the week ending February 27. Year to date numbers are down 47 percent at 17,688 head.

Slaughter ewes exported from Texas to Mexico for the year to date through Monday were up 13 percent from a year ago at 54,032 head.

Goats exported from Texas to Mexico through Monday were down 26 percent from a year ago at 12,453 head. Exports included 8452 Angoras.

Hogs exported from Texas to Mexico through Monday totaled 83,829 head compared to 18,966 a year ago.
