H.M. Gray, Amarillo, bought 50 cows with 40 calves on
them at $150 per cow from G.W. Williams, Bovina, April 22
delivery; these were described as good three and four
year-old cows.

Buck Thompson of Fort Sumner, New Mexico, last week
sold 350 good quality short age steer yearlings to J.L.
Taylor of Douglass, Kansas, for immediate delivery at 22
cents a pound.

Hal Gallo of Dalhart, Texas, sold 205 good quality
heifer yearlings estimated to weigh about 625 pounds to
Shelton & Chamberlain of Clarendon at $18.50, April
30 delivery; to be driven nine miles and weighed with one
and one half percent shrink.

In the Augusta, Montana area, 250 choice quality
Hereford steer calves were contracted April 19 for
October 15 delivery at 20 cents per pound, reports E.F.
Galt of the First National Bank, Great Falls.

Joe Mims of Roswell, N.M., last week received 600
whiteface yearling ewes out of the wool at $19.50 per
head in the San Saba, Texas area and shipped them to
California.

C.B. Erdwurm of Clovis sold 100 cows and calves at
$265 to Clyde Cooper, Tucumcari, for immediate delivery;
these cows were two to four years old.

Phillip Smith of Llano, Texas, sold 850 whiteface
yearling ewes out of the wool, described as extra good
quality, at $20 per head to G.W. Townsend of Hunt, Texas.

Lloyd Kinyon of Clovis bought 86 short age stocker
steer yearlings averaging 468 pounds at $32 and received
them April 27 from Clarence Mason, Muleshoe.

Paul Newman of Lubbock sold, to Woods & Hunt of
Seminole, Texas, 150 choice quality steers expected to
weigh 465 pounds at $35 for May 10 delivery and two loads
of Angus cows and calves, threes to sixes, at $265 for
April 30 delivery.

Ross Rentfro, Amarillo, bought 259 steers described as
choice quality Herefords weighing 442 pounds at $25.50
from George Porter, Amarillo.

Shipments of feeder cattle and calves into eight
Cornbelt states during the first three months of 1964
totaled 2,200,000 head, or 33 percent more than during
the same period the previous year.

Bill SoRelle, Amarillo, sold 221 heifers averaging 545
pounds at $18 to Foster Pickett, Amarillo: these included
Hereford, Angus and some plain heifers, SoRelle also sold
221 "put together" steers weighing 687 at $19,
delivered to the Hill & Rhoderick feedlots,
Plainview.

John R. Scott sold some 5300 heifer and steer calves
at auction in Billings, Mont. A total of 2128 heifers
averaging 490 pounds brought an average of $34.73 cwt.;
316 head of three-way cross heifers (out of
Hereford-Angus crossbred cows and a Shorthorn bull)
weighing 477 pounds $38.83; a group of heifer yearlings
averaging near 700 pounds $30 to $32, mostly $31 up. A
total of 3108 steer calves averaging 522 brought an
average of $37.21; the top 1852 head, averaging 512
pounds, brought $38.15. Two loads of steers, one 42 head
weighing 429 and the other 47 head weighing 412, sold at
$40.

Swisher County Cattle Co., Tulia, bought 680 native
Hereford, Angus and black baldface steers expected to
weigh 700 pounds at $27.50 and 150 similar heifers to
weigh 600 at $25.50 for October delivery in the
Albuquerque, N.M. area.

Hi-Plains Feed Yard, Friona, sold 350 steers weighing
1100-1125 pounds, grading 75 percent choice, at $31.50
and 550 plain good and choice 1050 pound steers at $29.

Total red meat production under federal inspection
last week was an estimated 690 million pounds, four
percent below the previous week and three percent below
the same week a year ago.

While cattle on feed April 1 in the 13 major feeding
states were up two percent from a year ago, Texas cattle
feeders had 24 percent more in their lots.

Dundee, sold to an Oklahoma City commission firm 3800
crossbred steers to weigh 750 pounds at $66, to be
delivered off wheat between now and May 15.

selling in Oklahoma range trade, weighing about 800
