Kansas Direct Feeder Steers, Heifers Lower
Feeder steers sold $1-2 lower in Kansas direct trade last week, heifers weak to $2 lower. Weather was mild with some rain. Sales were confirmed on 3393 head.

U.S. Meat Production 6.8% Above A Year Ago
Total red meat production under Federal inspection last week was estimated at 892.8 million pounds 2.9 percent more than a week ago and 6.8 percent above a year ago. Cumulative meat production for the year to date was up 1.9 percent at 14.15 billion pounds.

Red Meat Production Sets March Record
Commercial red meat production for the United States totaled 4.02 billion pounds in March, up eight percent from the 3.73 billion pounds produced in March 1998 and up seven percent from the previous record high for March set in 1995. January-March red meat production was 11.4 billion pounds, three percent above the comparable figure a year earlier.

Feeder steers and heifers sold steady in a limited test, slaughter cows and bulls steady. Receipts totaled 602 head.

Junction Feeder Lamb Trade Mostly Steady
Feeder lambs sold mostly steady, slaughter ewes and bucks steady; stock Angora nannies $3 lower, slaughter Angoras $2-3 higher; slaughter Spanish muttons and billies mostly steady, stock nannies steady, other slaughter goats $2-3 higher. Receipts totaled 3450 head.

Abilene Feeder Steers Lower, Heifers Higher
Feeder steers sold $1-3 lower, heifers $1-3 higher, slaughter cows $1 higher, bulls steady, stock cows and pairs steady. Receipts totaled 1016 head.

Llano Feeder Steers Steady, Heifers Off
Feeder steers sold fully steady, heifers $1-3 lower, slaughter cows and bulls steady to $2 higher. Receipts totaled 203 head.

Lampasas Feeder Steer, Heifer Prices Decline
Feeder steers and heifers sold $3-4 lower, slaughter cows and bulls steady. Receipts totaled 1050 head.

Most Cuero Cattle Prices Termed Lower
Feeder steers and heifers sold lower, slaughter cows and bulls lower. Receipts totaled 1577 head.

Fredericksburg Feeder Steers, Heifers Lower
Feeder steers and heifers sold $2-3 lower, slaughter cows and bulls $1-2 higher. Receipts totaled 990 head.

Goldthwaite Feeder Lambs Trade Steady
Feeder lambs sold fully steady, slaughter ewes and bucks steady; slaughter Angora kids steady; slaughter Spanish kids $4-6 lower, other slaughter goats mostly steady, stock nannies $1 lower. Receipts totaled 7000 head.

Colorado City Feeder Steers, Heifers Off
Feeder steers and heifers sold $1-4 lower, slaughter cows steady to $1 lower, bulls steady, stock cows and pairs steady. Receipts totaled 617 head.

Producers Video Sale Offers 15,700 Cattle
Producers Video Auction offered 15,700 feeder steers and heifers from six states in their regularly scheduled sale. Trade and demand were termed moderate, delivery mostly current to July.
