Dear Sir,
A while back I was pleasantly surprised to receive
the 50-year edition inserted in my Livestock Weekly.
It brought back to me the names of livestock producers I
had known through the years and the big blizzard in the
Colby, Kansas area where I lived at the time.
It showed some of the changes that have taken place,
especially in the sheep industry, and how the numbers
have dwindled. Men used to run 1500 to 2000 sheep in a
band. Now they are almost a curiosity. But when I read 45
years gleaned from "Unregistered Bull in a Hotel
Lobby," I saw how little things have changed. We
still have low livestock prices, drouth, and crafty
politicians.
I am glad to see the Livestock Weekly staff
following Stanley Frank's conservative and common sense
views. Once while visiting with Mr. Frank, I told him how
I never made a move until I read the latest Livestock
Weekly. His answer: "Why do you do that? I don't
know any more than you do." But it was and still is
the one publication that gives me a feel as to what the
trend is with the livestock business.
