Ote Berry Claims Biggest Check
Of Season In Steer Wrestling

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Four-time world steer wrestling champion Ote Berry claimed the biggest check at the recent Red Bluff, Calif., Round-Up Rodeo. Berry, of Checotah, Okla., won the steer wrestling title and $4568 — his biggest payday this season.

The West Coast win boosts Berry from 24th to 16th in the Crown Royal world steer wrestling standings with $14,950 and puts him in early contention for his 13th National Finals Rodeo qualification.

In the all-around race, Fred Whitfield, Hockley, Texas, maintains the lead with $71,300. He is followed by Herbert Theriot, Poplarville, Miss., with $32,788; Chad Hagan, Leesville, La., $32,495; Joe Beaver, Huntsville, Texas, $27,806; and Robert Bowers, Brooks, Alberta, Canada, $26,571.
