Feeder cattle and calf demand was stronger
across the country last week, prices steady to $3
higher with both calves and yearlings at the full
advance in one place or another. There were good
solid upturns as no place reported a lower trend
on anything.

Totals 30,800 Cattle
Superior Livestock Auction offered more
than 30,800 cattle at their regularly scheduled
sale. Consignments were from 19 states. Trade and
demand were termed strong with prices strong,
delivery current through November.
Angelo Feeder Lambs Lower, Cattle Steady
Feeder lambs sold weak to $2 lower this
week, slaughter lambs poorly tested and slaughter
ewes generally steady, instances firm to $2
higher on good and choice. Receipts totaled
10,926 head. Around 2000 lambs sold on
Wednesdays teleauction, where weights of
70-85 pounds brought $81-81.75, 60-70 pounds
$80.25. Delivery is June 28 to July 11.

slaughter cows $2 lower, bulls steady. Receipts
totaled 317 head.

U.S. Meat Production 9.5% Below A Year
Ago
Total red meat production under federal
inspection last week was estimated at 759.8
million pounds, 12.6 percent less than a week
earlier and 9.5 percent less than a year ago.
Cumulative meat production for the year to date
was up two percent at 19.27 billion pounds.

Kansas Direct Feeder Cattle Prices
Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold $1-3 higher
in Kansas direct trade last week. The weather was
mild with thunderstorms, rain amounts ranging
from traces to four inches. Wheat in the south
central part of the state is ripening fast. Sales
were confirmed on 9863 head.
