Steak House Boosts
Beef For Dad's Day
AMARILLO A local restaurant here has teamed up
with the Texas Agricultural Extension Service, Texas
Department of Agriculture and several local organizations
to promote beef for Father's Day this year.
The Big Texan Steak Ranch is giving a 22-ounce T-bone
steak dinner on Father's Day, June 20, to the top 100
entrants of their Beef for Fathers' Day essay contest.
Area students up to 18 years old were invited to
submit an essay of 100 words or less in their own
handwriting on "The man who has most influenced my
life."
The entrants were submitted to Cheryl Brewer with the
Texas Agricultural Extension Service in Potter County.
Jim Allison, Potter County agricultural Extension
agent, says they received 720 entries.
In addition to the steak dinner, the Amarillo Dillas,
the local baseball team, gave each of the top 100
entrants four tickets to a game this season.
Bobby Lee with the Big Texan Steak Ranch says all
entrants would receive a certificate for a Big Texan
strawberry shortcake and two Dillas game tickets.
The top three winners, Robert Eglington of Borger,
Niki Ross of Amarillo and Tiara Gardner of Amarillo, were
honored at a luncheon the week before Fathers' Day.
