Feeder Lambs Show Small Price Rise
Feeder lambs showed a little strength in various markets and areas this week. Slaughter lambs held about steady. Slaughter ewes were higher in Texas but mixed in the Midwest markets.

Plains Fed Cattle Trading Not Established At Midweek

Nation’s Feeder Cattle Price Trend Higher Again Last Week
Feeder steers and heifers around the country sold steady to $2 higher again last week. This trend has prevailed for nine out of the past 10 weeks, but there were several exceptions to the rule last week. Most areas offered large receipts, and the calf country of the Southeast was steady to $2 lower.

Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $2 lower, some lightweight heifers $4 off, slaughter cows steady, bulls $1 higher. Receipts totaled 718 head.

Goldthwaite Feeder Lambs Sell Steady
Feeder lambs sold steady, slaughter lambs $2 lower, slaughter ewes and bucks $3 higher; stock Spanish nannies $1-2 lower, slaughter kids $2-3 higher, other slaughter goats steady to $1 lower; slaughter Angora nannies fully steady. Receipts totaled 4700 head.

Most Fredericksburg Cattle Prices Lower
Feeder steers and heifers sold $1-2 lower, slaughter cows and bulls $2-4 lower. Receipts totaled 1405 head.

Abilene Feeder Steers Mixed, Heifers Steady
Feeder steers sold $1-2 higher except 400-700 pound weights steady, heifers steady, slaughter cows and bulls mostly steady, stock cows steady. Receipts totaled 1318 head.

Milano Feeder Steers, Heifers Trade Higher
Feeder steers and heifers sold firm to $2 higher, slaughter cows steady to $1 lower, bulls steady. Receipts totaled 852 head.

U.S. Meat Production 2.3% Above A Year Ago
Total red meat production under federal inspection last week was estimated at 848.3 million pounds, 4.3 percent less than a week ago and 2.3 percent more than a year ago. Cumulative meat production for the year to date was up 2.6 percent at 25.28 billion pounds.

Domestic Wool Trade At Total Standstill
Wool trading was at a complete standstill for the third consecutive week last week. Demand was light for both grease and clean wool, no wool sales reported in any area.
