Utah Steer Wrestler Wins Big
In Idaho And Cheyenne Rodeos

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Tommy Cook of Heber City, Utah, won $6000 and the steer wrestling title at the recent $180,323 Caldwell (Idaho) Night Rodeo. The win came three weeks after he collected $15,222 and the coveted Cheyenne Frontier Days steer wrestling title and just one week after pocketing more than $5000 and sharing the runner-up position at the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo.

The Idaho win boosts Cook to second place in the Crown Royal world steer wrestling standings with $63,219 and puts him in contention for a second National Finals Rodeo qualification.

In the all-around competition, Ty Murray, Stephenville, Texas, runner-up thus far, has been sidelined for the last couple of weeks due to a hyper-extended right elbow. He plans to return to full competition this week. Calf roper Fred Whitfield, Hockley, Texas, leads the all-around competition with $132,503. Murray follows with $107,206. Cody Ohl, Orchard, Texas, is in third with $96,494. He is followed by Trevor Brazile, Childress, Texas, with $83,863, and Herbert Theriot, Poplarville, Miss., with $79,928.
